We emerge "in Christ" to share the labor and worship of the whole Christ, and in order to do this we must sacrifice our own superficial and private selves. The paradoxical fruit of this sacrifice of our trivial and "selfish" (or simply immature) selves is that we are then enabled to discover our deepest selves, in Christ.
